Questions we hear most
When should my swamp cooler be started up?
April is the usual month, before the first hot week. Book early in the month.
When should it be shut down?
In October, before the first hard freeze. We drain the pan and line, clean out the scale and cover the unit.
Why does my cooler smell musty at start-up?
Dry pads and a winter of standing water in the pan are the usual causes. A fresh pad and a cleaned pan clear it in most coolers.
Why does it cool less in July and August?
Monsoon humidity. A swamp cooler cools by evaporation, and damp air takes less water. A clean pad and a working pump still help.
Do you service window coolers?
Yes. Window coolers get the same start-up and shut-down as rooftop ones, with a note of what we found.
Should I switch to refrigerated air?
It depends on your house and what bothers you. We install both and would rather you pick the right one than the bigger job. The upgrade page lays out the differences.
Do you pull permits?
We tell you in the quote whether the job needs a permit and who pulls it.
What about rebates?
Ask us what your state or utility offers. Programs change, so we don't print amounts and we don't promise any.
What does a visit cost?
We write the number at the visit, before any work, and you approve it first. How pricing works explains what moves it.
Can I text you a photo of my cooler?
Yes. The contact page has a text link for it. A photo of the cooler and of its label helps us bring the right parts.
Didn't see your question?
Call or text and ask. A person answers in our hours.
